This article is important because it is easy to write this topic too rigidly. Different OEMs and service teams do not always use the same English terms in exactly the same way. Buyers may also translate local names differently. In real purchasing communication, control cage, directional sleeve, impeller and distributor wheel can be mixed up, especially when the inquiry comes from an older machine or a customer who is forwarding someone else's description.

The safer RFQ method is not to debate translation first. Start with function and structure. Where does the part sit inside the blast wheel? Does it relate to the opening direction? Does it sit near the center distribution path? Does it work as an accelerating blade? Once the function is described, photos and dimensions can confirm the likely part group.

The definitions below are procurement working definitions. They are meant to reduce wrong-part risk when preparing an RFQ. They are not a claim that every machine builder uses identical names across all wheel families.

Why names cause wrong parts

The quote depends on structure, not only terminology

If a buyer writes only "need impeller" or "need distributor wheel", the supplier may still be unable to confirm the part. The part may differ by outside diameter, inside diameter, bore, keyway, height, rotation direction, opening direction, hole position or matching wheel model. A similar word does not confirm that the part will fit.

Control cages / directional sleeves should be photographed in a way that shows the opening window, window direction, wall thickness and mounting face. Impellers / distributor wheels should be photographed from both sides, with center structure, bore and locating details clearly visible. Blades should be treated separately, because their replacement logic depends on blade dimensions, mounting profile and set quantity.

For legacy wheels, upgraded wheels or cross-brand replacement, state that context directly. If the current problem includes blade wear, pattern shift or repeated wear, do not isolate the inquiry to one named part. Send photos of the related wheel parts together.

This is especially useful for distributors and service companies who receive short messages from end users. Instead of forwarding only the customer's spoken part name, add a simple note about the part function, its location inside the wheel and the visible direction or locating features. That small step often prevents the supplier from quoting the wrong wheel component.
